Welcome To National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.

Profile

At KSIT NSS was officially launched in the year 2017 aimed to develop students personality through social service. V T U sanctioned one unit (100 students ) to our college in the year 2018.

MOTTO

The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

SWACHH KSIT

"The NSS Unit of KSIT in the wings of National Service Scheme (NSS) organized ?Swachh KSIT? on 7st December 2021. Dr. Dilip Kumar K, principal of KSIT, Dr. K V A Balaji, CEO of K S Group of Institutions, Mr. Naveen V, NSS PO and Mr. Umesh S, Physical Education Director inaugurated the function. All the Heads of the department, NSS committee members, teaching and non-teaching staffs and NSS Volunteers were present in the event. Principal, CEO and NSS PO addressed the gathering. Later, the volunteers were divided into five teams: Kuvempu, Vishveshwaraya, Sangolli Rayanna, Kitoor Rani Chenamma and Vivekananda."

FIRE EXTINGUISHER

"The NSS Unit of KSIT in the wings of National Service Scheme (NSS) organized an event on ?Awareness about fire accidents? on1st December 2021. Dr. Dilip Kumar K, principal of KSIT, Dr. K V A Balaji, CEO of K S Group of Institutions, Mr. Naveen V, NSS PO, Mr. Umesh, PED, Heads of the all Departments, teaching and non-teaching staffs, NSS Volunteers and students were present in the event. The usage of fire extinguisher was demonstrated and the necessary precautionary measures were outlined as a part of the program."

CONSTITUTION DAY 26/11/2021

"The NSS Cell of KSIT under the umbrella of National Service Scheme(NSS) celebrated Constitution Day program on 26th November 2021. Dr. Dilip Kumar K, principal of KSIT, Dr. K V A Balaji, CEO of K S Group of Institutions, Dr. Sangappa, Director-Admissions PRO, Mr. Naveen V, NSS PO and all the Heads of the Department inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. All the Faculty members, NSS Volunteers and students were present in the function."

Swayam Student Volunteering Champion Award 2020

Mr.Vinay V P Received the Swayam-Student Volunteering Champion Award from Youth for Seva in recognition of his efforts towards serving society. The award was presented during Udhvikas 2020 a State-level Youth Conclave to nurture mindful volunteering.

State Republic day parade camp-2020

In 2020 Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology deputed Vinay V P as a Training officer for the State NSS parade which will be held at the Manek Shaw parade ground.

REPUBLIC DAY PARADE CAMP

Out of 33 male and female volunteers from every state, only 7 boys and 7 girls will get selected, among them one of our student named Mr. Vinay V P has been selected for the National Republic Day Parade Camp in Delhi.

OBJECTIVES OF NSS

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are :

  • Understand the community in which they work
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • Gain skills in mobilising community participation
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
  • Practise national integration and social harmony
