The Electronics and Communication Engineering opens up great career prospects for the students in manufacturing industries and service organizations such as broadcasting, consulting, data communication, entertainment, research and development; and system support.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 1999 offering UG and Ph.D under the affiliation of VTU, Belagavi. The course is structured with an Outcome-Based Education to help students to excel in academics and to achieve their goals. The department is accredited by NBA, NAAC and IEI.
The main aim of the department is to work towards overall development of the students and make them industry ready engineers. The Department provides excellent training with strong fundamental knowledge with activity-based learning in Electronics and Communication Engineering. The department has Garut Aeromodelling club & Satellite club to promote experiential learning. Department of ECE believes in overall development of students and created platform through active professional bodies like IEEE, ISTE, IEDC, IETE and IEI. These forums help students to take-up innovative projects, present technical papers and organize various technical events & non- technical events thereby receiving a broader perspective on the professional front by providing opportunities for teamwork, leadership and service. The department provides ample opportunities to students to participate & also organise in non-technical and cultural activities. These forums will provide platform to showcase their talents. Our students have brought laurels to the department by representing in sports and cultural events at various Universities, State level and National level.
The ECE Department provides a holistic environment for the overall development of the student. We have highly dedicated, committed and experienced team of teaching & supporting staff. Our team of faculty members continuously strive hard and leave no stone unturned for the all-round development of the students through personal guidance, mentoring & Counselling beyond academics. Apart from providing a friendly atmosphere for learning, we also constantly strive to improve the quality of Engineering through various programs like Technical Talk, Workshops, guest lectures and FDP. Department organises regular industrial visits for all the students.
Students are nurtured by enhancing their confidence to bring out best in them. The course is structured with an Outcome based education to achieve academic excellence. During the course of study students are encouraged to take-up mini projects, activity based learning & case studies to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical experience. They are motivated to select projects benefiting society or dealing with local problems.
These projects enable them to understand the relevance of working in a group and also help them to realize the finer aspects of teamwork. We also encourage students to organize and participate in curricular and extracurricular activities with social relevance. Our students have participated in many events and brought laurels to the dept.
With valued based education ingrained in them we find our budding engineers hardworking, ready to learn and committed. Department has maintained quality placement record till date. We are proud of the long and sustained placement records of our students in different multinational companies, few of our students are pursuing higher education at different top-class universities after qualifying GRE/TOEFL & IELS and few of students have become budding entrepreneurs. The students graduated from our department have become successful professional engineers working for both core and software companies such as Robert Bosch, Wipro R&D, Infosys, Cognizant Technology Solutions, HCL Technologies, TCS, Mahindra Satyam, iGate and MSMEs etc. Some of them are serving in government organizations and few of them have become successful entrepreneurs. Our students are pursuing higher education like MTech, MS, MBA and PhD in various universities in India and abroad. Few of our graduates have become job providers by becoming entrepreneurs.

PSO1: Graduate should be able to understand the fundamentals in the field of Electronics and Communication and apply the same to various areas like Signal processing, embedded systems, Communication & Semiconductor technology.
PSO2: Graduate will demonstrate the ability to design, develop solutions for Problems in Electronics and Communication Engineering using hardware and software tools with social concerns.
Research and Development Centre of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of KSIT was started in the year of 2014-15 and is encouraging PhD research scholars & students to carryout research and development in the specialized areas like Image processing, Communication Neural networks etc. The Centre is affiliated to VTU. Presently, the Centre has five research guides with 20 research scholars pursuing PhD under these guides. The Centre is well equipped with software and hardware tools required to carry out research and development. Faculty members of the department are collaborating with organizations like Tata elxsi, Mitara consulting services, Acsia Technologies (P) Ltd., and many more for consultancy works. The research and consultancy projects worth Rs. 30.75 Lakhs are either completed or ongoing.
The research projects worth Rs. 8.8 Lakhs are either completed or ongoing. Some of these are funded by Government of Karnataka, Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU) and Institution of Engineers IE(I).
The faculty of the ECE department is actively engaged in research in the areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, Cryptography, Machine Learning and VLSI Technologies. A total of 188 research articles were published and presented by the faculty in various technical journals and conferences in the past 3 years, with more than 750 citations.

College was a dreamland for my educational life and my career. I choose KSIT because it provides a perfect platform for students to excel in both academics and co curricular activities. KSIT has given me a great opportunity to grow myself. It was a beautiful period and a picture of learning, enjoyment, freedom and friendship. My first journey at KSIT began by lighting the lamp at the time of orientation program. I was really nervous as all the people were new to me. But soon, I started enjoying my college life with the fantastic learning experience in electronics and communication as specialization. I joined IEEE, ISTE SOCIETIES in my second year and had an amazing experience working for it. During my final year I was elected as the vice chair for IEEE student branch at KSIT and was very pleased to work for IEEE Student Branch along with the WIE affinity group. I had an opportunity to shape myself as a better person with the best support and guidance of all the facilities. All the facilities were such a great strength and pillar of support who always directed me towards the right path. The most exciting week was the Ananya fest which had such remarkable moments. Finally, I would like to thank the institution for giving me a great opportunity and experience. I am proud to be KSITIAN.
My journey with KSIT started at the year 2016 as an Electronics and Communication, BE student. I wanted to make the best out of 4 years of bachelor's degree, so I always hunted for new opportunities which would help in my development on the whole. In the first year I made a lot of friends and with the help of my wonderful professors got the opportunity to attend the Leadership Camp in Belgaum through NSS. This camp was the turning point of my journey and then on experience and opportunities just kept adding on. I lead multiple college level camps to spread general awareness amongst people. I am proud to say that I represented Karnataka in the national integration camp held at Gujarat as well as Republic day parade 2019, NSS. My love for sports was immense, this passion was encouraged by the college PED who guided me and paved my way into representing VTU for the south zone cricket tournament as well as football tournament (women's) for two consecutive years. I bagged the individual championship for all the four years on sports day organized by my college. They say once you opt for engineering, you have to focus on studies and sacrifice extra-curricular activities but in my case I didn?t have to give away my passion for sports and cultural all thanks to my supportive teachers and management. These four wonderful years have molded me into a better version of me. I learnt a lot through these adventures like time management, leadership skills, communication skills, many informative workshops. I would like to thank the management, HOD, faculties, PED and friends for all their contribution towards my success. I am proud to be a KSITIAN and these merry moments will be etched in my heart forever.
First I would like to thank the Department and editorial team for giving me this opportunity to share my experience. Time works in mysterious ways. From my first day as a newcomer, excited about the new stage of my life, to the last few days here. Four years went by in the blink of an eye. I simply cannot count the number of memories that I've made, some bitter, some sweet. Strangers whom I met on the first day have turned out now to be my best mates. The adventures I've had with them will be some of the best memories I've ever made. All the contests that I participated in, helped me mould myself into a confident individual that I am today. From wanting to be participating as an eager newcomer to being a part of various committees with the support of my teachers, I learnt how to manage myself and others which made me more confident to face situations. The experience of working together as a team is something magical that cannot be put into words. I personally thank each and everyone who has been a source of strength supporting me during my difficult times. These four years have been special and, by looking back, I wouldn't want to change anything.
Engineering at KSIT has given me a great platform to grow myself and nurture my skills. I also made amazing friends in these four year who have been there even in my difficult times. It was my pride to work for IEEE Student branch along with WIE affinity group which inculcated team spirit. It was my honor to be first WIE Deputy Secretary in my 3 rd year of engineering and always had the support of my seniors who motivated me throughout my journey. During this period I represented IEEE KSIT SB in BC meet, 2018 organized by IEEE Bangalore Section, where it was my privilege to present the ppt on ?Best Practices your Student Branch follows?. Later being WIE Chair in my final year was has enhanced my leadership skills, communication skills and also this high position was filled with the huge responsibility. It has given an opportunity to shape myself as a better person with the continuous guidance of lecturers. All the lecturers have been an epitome of strength and a great pillar of support system who have always shown me the right direction and path to walk on. A word of gratitude for the lecturers is not enough but always grateful to them. A special thanks to HOD mam who has been strict but yet the most caring. I would also like to thank Principal Sir who has always encouraged in all respects. KSIT has created a stage to explore and discover my potential in a true manner.
It was a very good moment that after my diploma I entered MY KSIT quietly to the 2 nd year. The very first day I met such wonderful classmates from ECE department. I could completely mingle with my class. The support given by the friends and teachers was awesome. It was very tough to cope up with the subjects as a diploma candidate. But my friends and teachers supported me a lot. I joined NSS and it was proud moment to serve for the country by being a part for 1 week camp with 50 different talented people and I learnt many things from them. I got the confidence and satisfaction through the NSS activities. Our HOD always encouraged us to participate in cultural activities and sports. I learnt leadership skills by organizing various events. I got a wonderful opportunity to represent EC department as core member during ANANYA 2019. I enjoyed the wonderful years spent at KSIT and learnt many valuable lessons which shaped me into a better person. I thank the HOD, all my teachers and friends for helping and encouraging me in every step. I am honoured to be a KSITIAN. I will forever cherish the moments spent here.
"Peace be amplified and world be recfied" It all began in 2014 with a lot of excitement and expectaons, I joined K S Instute of technology and now, I'm happy that I made a right choice then. KSIT is the best launch pad to reach our goal of becoming a successful professional as they believe in imparng quality technical educaon with ethical values. The knowledge, guidance, and encouragement that I received from my Electronics and Communicaon Department are valuable which helped me execute my true potenal academically and to bring out the best in me. Four years at KSIT is one of the most memorable journey that I would like to cherish for the rest of my life. I'm pleased and grateful to the management, principal, HOD, faculty mentors, staff and my fellow mates for making this inerary indelible.
It's di?cult to sum up the memories and experience of four years in few lines. I consider myself very lucky for being a part of KSIT. There is something motivational and special in this environment which made us study and enjoy co- curricular activities. These four years were the amazing years of my life. My journey at this college began in the 2014.Tall buildings, Green lawn in the middle of these buildings. Going further, I found many photos of students who had been placed in di?erent companies. When I ?rst entered KSIT, I was not a good speaker neither did I have the con?dence t o m i n g l e . B u t t h i s c o l l e g e c re a te d opportunities for me, which helped me, break all these barrier .Our department, ECE, has got one of the best Teaching Sta?. Hod is the backbone of Department, not only by the power, but also in the way she takes care of her students and sta?. I thank the the ECE department faculties and the college for providing me this great oppurtunity.
At KSIT I never felt that I was far from my family as our faculty are student friendly, they trained us personally and treated as their own children. What they taught us is not the education but the means of education. We were pawns in first year , ministers in second year we were so excited of being seniors in third year, we were so happy that we got graduated soon and at the same time we feel sad that four years of my wonderful life is just becoming a memory. When this college gives me a degree, it is not the sign that I finished my graduation, but an indication that I am prepared for my life. I will be very much thankful to department of ECE for supporting and encouraging me in all the aspects.
I feel that I am lucky enough to pursue my Post graduation in ECE department of KSIT college. The professors are much helpful. Department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties, who make the students more knowledgeable and correct them for improvement. Our Head of Department Dr. P.N.Sudha is an inspiration to all the students. Our teachers have helped us in all aspects. Their way of handling the subjects made us to love the subjects. In conclusion, KSIT is one of the best places to pursue engineering where we can obtain knowledge and values for life.

The Department Library occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the Department. The Library has around 720 books catering to the needs of UG (B.E) and PG (M. Tech) students as well as Teaching Staffs .It covers all domains of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Library maintains an excellent collection of data books, occasional papers, technical magazines, kannada literary books and other documents/materials. The library preserves previous year's project, dissertation, old university question papers and seminar reports. All students and faculties of the department are encouraged to avail this facility.

IETE focuses on advancing electro-technology. The vision of IETE is reaching the unreached & empowering youth through technical education & skill development. IETE conducts workshops & technical talks on various tech topics.
The Institution of Engineers (IEI) is the national organization of engineers in India. IEI in KSIT promotes an environment to enable ethical pursuits for professional excellence.
Innovations and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) of KSIT genuinely believes that Entrepreneurship Cell will be able to successfully solve the student problem to a large extent, particularly, students will learn about the industrial perspectives, practices. The Industry, in turn, would gain from the output of KSIEDC and consequently get professionally trained and more usefully employable engineers from this institute. This initiative is thus expected to lead to a win-win situation for all concerned: KSIT, the students of KSIT, the Industry and the nation.
Garut Aeromodeling Club (GAC) in KSIT provides the students with various aero modeling related workshops, technical talks & promotes environment to professional excellence.

An internship is an opportunity offered by an employer to potential employees, called interns, to work at a firm for a fixed period of time. The interns usually will undergo internships which usually last between two to four weeks. Internships are usually part-time if offered during a university semester and full-time if offered during the vacation periods. An internship should give the practical skills, workplace experience and greater knowledge of that industry. The Internships are more flexible and they provide an opportunity for the students take up in different companies, work in different roles and really explore an industry in depth. The Internship will also provide an opportunity to get the employment and also to understand the industrial culture.

The department of ECE organizes industrial visits every year in association with professional bodies. Industrial visits offer a great source to gain practical knowledge. Students can observe and learn as to how theoretical concepts are put into action, thereby aiding their practical learning. Students are exposed to real world environment and shown how things are done in an organization. From the details about the management to the targets they achieve everything is covered in these visits. The objective is to let student to know things practically through interaction, working methods, industrial and employment standards, and practices.
Every year, Project exhibition for final year students & mini project exhibition for other students will be conducted during even semester. Judges from Industry and academics will be invited to assess the projects during the project exhibition. This will enable students to show case their projects, get feedback about project & understanding possible new features that can be included in the project.
