A degree in Mechanical Engineering from KSIT equips students with the foundational knowledge needed for a successful career. Our graduates have become successful professional engineers in various core companies and technology-based enterprises like TCS, Infosys, Toyota, Bosch, General Motors.
The programme endows students with the basic understanding and knowledge of various domains of the stream. A student pursuing a mechanical engineering programme will acquire knowledge about designing of automobiles, electric motors, aircraft and other heavy vehicles. The students graduated from our department have become successful professional engineers working in the various core companies and technology based enterprises like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, General Motors, T E Connectivity India Pvt Ltd., Neviton Softech Private Limited, Westline Ship Management, Alpha 9 Marine Services, Amazon Development Centre India Pvt Ltd, Tech Mahindra, [24]*7.ai, etc.
PEO1: To produce graduates who would have developed a strong background in basic science and mathematics and ability to use these tools in Mechanical Engineering.
PEO2: To prepare graduates who have the ability to demonstrate technical competence in their fields of Mechanical Engineering and develop solutions to the problems.
PEO3: To equip graduates to function effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment individually, within a global, societal, and environmental context.
It is expected that a student in mechanical engineering will possess an:
PSO1: Ability to apply concept of mechanical engineering to design a system, a component or a process/system to address a real world challenges
PSO2: Ability to develop effective communication, team work, entrepreneurial and computational skills
Research and development is the first stage for the overall development of any organization. Basically R & D work is carried out without any expectations of making profit, instead directed towards achieving awards, recognitions, patents, copy rights, etc. KSIT Mechanical Engineering R &D centre is equipped with highly qualified and experienced supervisors with the computing and testing facilities for the research scholars to carry out their research.
Research and undergraduate education are not mutually exclusive components that compete with each other, but can and ought to be, integrated to enrich each other. Research is a learning process, and our goal is to be a community of scholars that joins together in discovering and sharing knowledge.
Its is a matter of Proudness to announce that The Department has been recognized as R & D Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University for carrying out Research activities leading to M. Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D. degrees.
Established in the year 2007-08 MANTRA (Micro, Aero, Nano, Tribo Research Activities) was tied up with Honeywell, one of the reputed Institutes at world level.
Many teaching faculties have registered for M.Sc Engineering & their Ph,D at the centre. The Management of KSIT has magnanimously supported financially to start the research activities. The lab has all facilities covering the above mentioned areas. Various testing machines like Pin and Disc wear testing machine, Journal bearing testing equipment, Dry Abrasive wear testing Machine, Erosion & Corrosion equipment, Centrifugal Casting machine, Micro Balance with greater accuracy, and many more have been procured which are being continuously used by Research students of this institution and facilities are also extended to the research scholars of the other institutions.

Have you ever read a diary you wrote a few years ago and suddenly felt overwhelmed? If you aren?t getting an idea how it feels let me tell you. It feels incredible, ambivalent, heart-warming. It feels like ?Engineering?. We just did what we felt like doing without having any idea we were actually creating memories. Right from entering the campus with high zeal to go-sit-study and put some great score on the card which lasted only till the end of first internals of our first semester. The NSS which I was introduced to on the first day which later became a distinct chapter in my engineering. Such a noble organization groomed me not just into a responsible student but a responsible citizen as well. The thrill of organizing the first Kannada Raajyothsava in college right in the first semester. The first Ananya! To begin with Interdepartment where some seniors became best buddies and eventually turned brothers, to hosting the mad-adds and winning the solo dance, Ananya stage became my biggest platform to explore every talent I possessed. Even before recovering from this hangover the semester exams struck us to a clean boundary. Sick of internals and exams there were collective wishes to just escape this cycle and rest in homes peacefully and ta-da the dream came true as a part of the disastrous package named COVID. In due course the dream transformed into a nightmare. We longed to step back to college, prayed to get back to classes and craved to be back with our mates. It?s true that we never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. It was during this period we realized the true value and purpose of college. We promised ourselves then, we would make best use of our time in college when we got back and that promise was kept. As a member of Core Committee, I had the best experience of my entire engineering organizing a magnificent fest, alongside my fellow core and club members, which believably helped every KSITian set a wonderful memory. I express my sincere gratitude to the teaching and non-teaching fraternity of K S Institute of Technology. It was due to their admirable role I have had the chance of upgrading myself with every opportunity. How can I end without mentioning the biggest gifts of my engineering, my hostelmates. From sharing the same room, same plate, same paste, same clothes, same drinks, same happiness and same pain we have come a really long way sharing the same road boys. There aren?t adjectives that won?t fit in here if I start describing our moments together. I thank all my classmates, batchmates, project teammates and everyone else whom I have had the chance to cross paths with. I would love to convey one thing to everyone reading this, ?In a bus called engineering not one but all the windows are open with a wide view, only if you intend to take a peek.? Unlike a few unlucky batches, ours for instance, you may have all the 4 years right in your hands, live it king size picking every opportunity that comes your way.
?If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.? as quoted by ' Nicola Tesla', was proven right by the teachers of KSIT. Firstly I would like to thank editorial team for giving me this opportunity. When I first stepped into KSIT college I never expected my life to take such a wonderful phase! Initially, when I was in first year, I thought my engineering life would be study oriented, but as I entered MECHANICAL branch it all changed !! Teachers were so experienced and knowledgeable that they not only helped me to excel in academics but in building my character.They were very much supportive in all ways. The best aspect of Engineering studies is the laboratory sessions, the satisfaction of designing and machining components is overwhelming. Apart from classroom studies,KSIT highly encourages students to take up extra - curricular activities, the most memorable will be the college fest ANANYA 2022. I am grateful to have such an opportunity, this helped me immensely gain knowledge and also made me a betterment engineer. I would like to thank each and every member of our department and Management for their support and encouragement.
Starting with assignments and internal assessments to sorrow and happiness we lived the best time of our lives in these 4 years Bunking classes and finding reasons to get attendance and majorly the lazy morning online classes will be the memories that we will cherish all our lives. Remembering those last night studies for exams and listing the important questions a day before the exam we lived the most precious moments of our life at KSIT, which is a one-time experience. Did make a lot of friends but Few were close enough, few were good, and few were always there for us whenever we needed them but glad, they were a part of my engineering life, in their absence life at KSIT would not be this memorable. Not just friends, but faculties of the mechanical department played a major role in forming a strong foundation to lay our careers. And helped us make the life of our dreams. I would like to thank you all for the precious memories we made past 4 years in spite of the pandemic. In the coming days,we do not know where we will be but surely will stay in diaries of good days. Every man has a story to tell but not everyone gets an opportunity to tell it early in their life. I, Darshan G, final year passing out student at K.S. SUCCESS IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION My journey to achieve in my dreams began 3 years back at KSIT and I can proudly say that When I join KSIT through lateral entry I was a bit tensed and excited to start my engineering career, but the support of my HOD, my teachers and non teaching staff motivated me to learn and achieve more. Change is an essential part of life, I am proud to say that my four years at KSIT resulted in a positive change in myself. The encouragement from my Lecturers and my seniors is something that helped me involve myself both in academic as well as cultural events. Team Redline Racing, K S Institute of Technology has participated in the event Mega ATV Championship organized by Autosport India in association with FMSCI. The Mega ATV Championship season-7 was organized by Autosport India. The event was organized in the North Goa from 11th May 2022 to 14th May 2022. The team have successfully cleared the virtual rounds of the event which was the entry criteria for the event. After this, team cleared Technical Inspection, driver's safety check, engine check and Brake test. The team bagged three TROPIES viz; 2nd Place in OVERALL CHAMPIOSHIP- All India ranking; 2nd Place in FLAT DIRT RACE; 2nd Runner up in NIGHT ENDURANCE RACE

The project entitled Design and Fabrication of Solid Waste Collector and Water De-Frothing Device was undertaken by the 8th semester students, Ashwin Miaya, Harshith Srinivas, Venkatesh Kashyap and Manoj R, guided by Mr. Umashankar M, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, was funded and awarded as The Best Project of the Year by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) for the 43rd Student Project Programme. The project "Automated Pesticide Sprayer for Agricultural farmlands" done by students of mechanical engineering lead by Praveen Kumar got selected for the all India level competition IICDC (India Innovation Challenge and Design Contest) which was organized by Department of Science and technology, India and sponsored by Texas Instruments.
Team Redline Racing is consistently participating in the event BAJA SAEINDIA organized by Mahindra in association with SAEINDIA for the past 5 years. The team has secured 6th position in acceleration, 8th pole position, 15th overall in All india rankings and 1st in design evaluation in Karnataka rankings of SAEINDIA BAJA ROPAR 2019.
Prodigy Racers is a Motor Sport Team of KSIT. Every year the team has been participating in different National level competitions. Where the students design CAD models of the vehicle and carry out stress analysis using the softwares like DS SOLIDWORKS and fabricate the vehicle from the scratch. The Team had secured 8th All India Ranking and 1st place for design evaluation in the event held at Mohite's Racing Academy, Kolhapur Maharashtra organized by Nexus Motorsport.
Under the guidelines Prof UMASHANKAR M Participated in the Student project programme (SPP)during the year of 2017-2018 HE/SHE was the adviser to the group of student who completed the project entitled PROPORTIONAL-INTEGRAL-DERIVATIVE CONTROLLER ON BOILER(TEMPERATURE AND FLOW CONTROL PARAMETERS) This project was adjudged as BEST PROJECT OF THE YEAR

Project work Exhibition will be organized for the final year project work students. Students exhibit their innovative project work for the evaluation from the panel members. It gives an opportunity for the students to expose and get the feedback of their project work and best project will be announced at the end of the program.
